Since 2010, BILETA has been working closely with the Information Technology Think Tank (ITTT) to support collaborative responses by academics to consultations in the area of IT law, digital rights and data protection. The aim has been to achieve as great as possible an academic impact in policy engagement and the programme has provided academics with an opportunity actively to disseminate their research, engage in knowledge transfer and voice concerns about contemporary cross-cutting issues in IT governance and regulation.

The ITTT was established by the AHRC/SCRIPT centre at the University of Edinburgh as a forum for academics to be able to speak with a more combined voice and so to influence policy. From September 2011, the AHRC/SCRIPT Centre will continue to provide administrative support for the consultation initiative and BILETA will fund support for academics in preparing responses to consultations. From 2012, it is proposed to obtain further external funding to ensure the ongoing sustainability of this valuable initiative. If you would like to be involved or have more information, please do contact Dr Abbe Brown, the BILETA Exec member responsible for this initiative, at
